Eight Months Old!!!

Eight Months Old - December 20, 2012

So this post is a little bit late.  I thought I posted this last week when I actually just saved it...but here we go.  My precious baby is getting closer and closer to toddlerhood.  Times flies when you are having fun - and we sure are!  At 8 months old, Ann Parker is the sweetest, happiest little thing.  Unless she is hungry or tired, she usually has a smile on her face.  She gives out smiles easily but Caroline gets the biggest ones.  I love the relationship they are already forming.

Ann Parker can sit unassisted.  She will reach her arms to be held, clap (sometimes on demand), and wave.  She doesn't wave at the right time yet, but we are getting there.  She can get her legs under her body for a bit as if she's trying to crawl.  She can scoot herself backward and occassionally forward.  We haven't had to move her crib down since she cannot yet get from laying down to sitting up.  She does try to pull up all the time on mommy and daddy.  She loves to stand!!  She has been babbling a lot more then days and we can hear her making the "d" and "b" sounds along with the "ooooo's" and "ahhhhhh's."  I love her sweet little voice.

I am still making some of her food, but I have also given her some store bought baby food.  She is a great eater and has had quite a variety of food!  She hasn't been very interested in "big girl" food - like puffs, crackers, etc. but C didn't show interest until later on as well so I'm not worried.  She takes about 5 oz. of milk at each feeding.  She is still on a 3 hour schedule (7, 10, 1, 4, 7) but sometimes she will go 4 or 5 hours between the early feedings.  She goes to bed around 7:15 and wakes up around 7-7:15.

She loves bath time and is now sitting in the big tub by herself!  She LOVES to splash!  She loves watching Mickey with Caroline, playing with her alphabet train, books, puzzles, anything that lights up and makes noise, watching Daisy, and swinging.  She will still cat nap in her swing but I imagine that we will soon be moving that back up the attic :(  She hates getting her nose wiped.  I mean really hates it!  She is also not a big fan sudden loud noises (although we took her to the BBVA Compass Bowl last weekend and she did great).  But really other than that, she is so easy going and laid back.

I had to take her for a sick baby vist last week.  She was running a fever and was so sleepy.  She was wheezing, but it wasn't too bad.  The doctor was worried that she would get worse and we'd have to come back for breathing treatments and depending on how bad - maybe even make a trip to Children's!!  Luckily, by the next day she seemed to be better.  She still had a runny nose and a small cough, but she was awake and smiling and had no fever.  Thank goodness!!

She has been getting better and better about being with people other than mommy or daddy.  She'll usually cry for a minute but then goes right back to her happy self.  She still loves mommy and daddy the most, but Kiki (my sister, Katie) is close behind.

Happy 8 month birthday little AP!!  We are so crazy about you and cannot imagine our lives without you.  Your sweet little smile just brightens our days.  Love you!!

Oh Caroline!

Caroline is just so stinkin funny these days! Her vocabulary has exploded and she says the funniest things.

She recently learned the word 'never' and now says it all.the.time. We went to a birthday party for a friend and when it was time to go she said " Never! I will never leave Laura's party!"

Anytime that she can sense that we are frustrated she will ask "What happened to you?"

She often asks "What are you dune {doing}?" No matter what the response is: cooking, folding clothes, changing AP's diaper, etc. her reply is "Oh, I get it!"

"Listen to me baby." To AP when she wants her to do something or give her something.

Adam doesn't sleep with a shirt on. We had company over the holidays so C got to bunk with us. She was ready for bed one night and wanted Adam to lay with her so she said (in front of everyone) " Get naked daddy!" I guess seeing him without a shirt equals bedtime and that's what she wanted!! It was so awkward and hysterical!!

She will say "Great job Mama!" to almost everything I do.

Her favorite song is 'One Thing' by One Direction and she knows most of the words. She asks to sing it nightly.

That's all for now!

I miss Christmas already!

I'm sad to see the holiday season go :(  I sure am going to miss walking in the door to see the faces of our family and friends...

And I'll miss the cheerful tree in the kitchen with all our colorful ornaments...

It sure was bittersweet putting the New Years attachement on our Happy Everything platter...

Can't figure out why it won't turn...
Come back Christmas!!! I miss you already!!

Lots of new posts below...and AP's 8 month post coming soon!

New Years Eve

I look forward to New Years Eve every year.  After spending so much time with family, it's so fun to see friends for a fun evening.  Two years ago, when C was only 7 months old we went to a wedding on NYE.  Before we left our baby for the evening, we did some shopping and while we were out we discovered C's first tooth poking through!!!  Strangely enough, while I was spending the day with my two girls before heading out to a wedding...I discovered Ann Parker's first tooth poking through!!  So we are starting off 2013 with a pearly white tooth!

My mom and sister graciously agreed to watch the girls so Adam and I could go out to eat at Dyron's and go to a wedding.  Can't pass up free babysitting :)  We started off the year surrounded by some of our favorite friends - I can't think of a better way to kick off a great year!

Christmas 2012: Christmas Day!!

Finally!!!  Christmas had arrived and I couldn't be more excited.  Ann Parker was celebrating her very first Christmas and Caroline was more aware and getting into the holiday.  We woke up to lots of goodies from Santa plus tons of gifts under the tree from mommy and daddy.

Caroline was in love with her Elmo plane and scooter and Ann Parker loved watching all the excitement!

We were supposed to have Adam's family come back over for dinner that evening, but the stomach bug hit his brothers house.  For the first time ever we spent Christmas evening without our families.  As it turned out, it was for the best though.  Caroline took a three hour nap (which we chalked up to several days of non stop activity) and woke up with a 102 fever and a horrible cough.  Sweet thing took a nap inside of AP's new ballpit.

We stayed inside and relaxed, which was a nice change of pace for us.  One of our favorite friends, Trey, came over to visit us for a bit.  C enjoyed snuggling up in her new chair with the new iPad.

Christmas 2012: Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve may be my favorite day of all!  I was glad to be done with shopping and wrapping so I could enjoy the day with my sweet family.  We spent the day baking cookies, making fudge and peanut brittle and preparing our delicious dinner for the evening.  Adam made the BEST cabernet braised short ribs and I made some rockin brussel sprouts and garlic smashed potatoes.  I'm pretty sure we should have a show on food network...

Ever since Caroline was born, we decided that we would spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning in our own house.  We love having family here if they want to join, but we will be home no matter what!  It works out well since we get to establish some traditions of our own.  One of my favorite traditions is going to Christmas Eve communion at Trintiy.  It's quite hard to get a decent picture of four people - two being kids so this is the best we got.  I thought the hands under their chins were cute :)

Our precious baby on her first Christmas Eve!!

Another favorite tradition is that Adam and I give each child two presents to open on Christmas Eve.  One is always Christmas pj's and the other is always a Christmas book.  I love their matching jammies!!  We write a message to each girl inside the book.  The goal is that one day (far, far from now) when they are married and have their own babies, they will have a collection of Christmas books that they can share with their kids.

A new tradition that we have started is giving the girls an ornament each year so they will have something to start with when they have their own trees (again, very far from now).  Since they became sisters in 2012, I thought a sisters ornament was appropriate!

We always pull out our china and crystal and enjoy a delicious dinner on Christmas Eve.  That may be my favorite thing!  After dinner we lay out cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer before sending the girls to bed.  I love our cookie plate!

Adam and I decided to open our gifts to each other that night since we knew we would be busy helping the girls with their gifts the next day (and we knew how much they each had...).  We both had a wonderful Christmas and as always were very good to each other.  Between the two of us we opened a new tv, a new iPad, lots of clothes, and a few things for the house/Adam's office.  After that we went to bed to wait for Santa :)

Christmas 2012: Christmas Eve Eve

On December 23rd we celebrated Christmas with Adam's family at his brothers house in Chelsea. We all ate lunch and visited for a few hours and then opened presents of course! Caroline was a wild woman and literally would not stop for a picture, so we only have a couple of AP.

The girls were spoiled rotten and we could barely get all the gifts home! C scored a new dollhouse, some books and puzzles, clothes, and a karaoke machine. Just what she needed...amplification ;)

AP got books and puzzles, a vacuum cleaner, and the walk about lion, which is quickly becoming a favorite at our house.

After that Adam and I took the girls to Zoolight Safari. So much fun!! We saw lights, rode the train, and rode the carousel. I know this will be a tradition for years to come!
