After a couple weeks of reminding Caroline each morning that it wasn't Halloween yet, we were very relieved to finally be able to say, "YES!! TODAY is the day!!" Excited doesn't even begin to describe her...
The first thing we did was put on costumes. We went to grab a quick breakfast before heading to the Hoover Public Library for some trick or treating and a special Halloween story time. They did a marvelous job. They had candy stations all over the library and several of the staff were in costume as well. The girls had a blast. They loaded up on candy and got to play and hear fun stories!!
Caroline enjoying a little playtime before the story.
AP got to play at the iPad station.
Soooo excited about all their treats!!
After the library we headed home for lunch and naps. I cannot guarantee that they ate any actual lunch. Once they realized it was a day filled with candy, they weren't interested in much else. After naps, we loaded up the car and headed to Crestline for the Mystic's Parade. We missed it last year but I don't think we will ever miss it again. It was amazing!! Even better than the last time we went in 2011. Despite C's face here, she had the best time. By the time the fourth or fifth float went by she was jumping up and down and screaming, "Me! Me! Me! Throw me some beads/candy/shirt/etc." She was all in. I couldn't take pictures because I had to keep AP from running right into the street, which quickly became a full time job.
Looks like we need to move to Mountain Brook - C talked about the "green cheerleaders" for about two hours after we left and said that she wanted to be one when she got to be a "biggest girl."
They thought the Belles were princesses and wanted to hug them :)
Pirate ship float
We thought this car was neat.
A "What does the fox say?" float. They were dancing and it was hysterical. If you haven't seen the video, go to you tube!
After the parade, I realized that I didn't have candy at our house for the trick or treaters so off to Publix we went. Publix also does trick or treating and had games set up all over the store. They got to do bowling, ring toss, face painting, and ball toss AND got a bunch more candy. It was their favorite shopping trip ever.
Sadly, by the time we got home it was sprinkling so we just trick or treated in our neighborhood for about 30-45 minutes. No camera or cell phone pics because I was afraid of getting them wet in the rain. Caroline had the best time ringing door bells...and AP loved it almost as much. After trick or treating we ate some dinner and sent two very tired little girls to bed.
This was the best Halloween yet!!! I love making these fun memories with my sweet little family!

Em, the car that you thought was neat is owned by one of my good friends who is a lawyer and who I used to work with! That is her sitting in the passenger seat with her little boy (who is going to be in Raughley's class at Crestline Elementary next year!) in her lap (and her MIL driving the car). Hilarious!!!
