Spring Break

Spring break was a couple of weeks ago and while we don't have an actual break since C isn't in school yet, we decided to take advantage of the great weather! Adam was able to leave work a little earlier than normal that week so we also took advantage of that!

On Monday we went on a picnic for dinner at Railroad Park. Caroline loves being outside and had a great time.

On Wednesday we went to the McWane Center. What a fun trip!! We met up with a couple of our friends and had a great time.

On Thursday we went to the zoo and had a picnic lunch before seeing some of the animals. We had to leave early since someone needed a nap (well, both of us really).

Caroline was wearing an adorable outfit with a giraffe on it. She also had on her new shoes. Within minutes the shoes were gone, the bow and sunglasses came off and she poured juice all over her new outfit.

We had such a great week and I'm so excited about this summer! I know we'll be doing lots more fun things like this.

Ten Months Old!!!

Ten Months Old - March 23, 2011

Last week my little baby turned 10 months old!! I'm behind on posting this because we've been so busy! Caroline is moving so fast these days that I hardly have time to do anything but chase her around the house. She's also been standing on her own for several seconds! Once she realizes that she's doing it, she'll sit down. I cannot believe that next month will be the last "month birthday" before she's a one year old! We've been busy planning her birthday party and while I am so incredibly excited to celebrate that day, I am also sad. I'm sad that her "baby" days are coming to an end. I know that there will be plenty of baby days ahead for Adam and me since we hope to have more children, but those days with Caroline are just memories - some of the best memories of my life. I've been soaking up each little second that I can. I've made her crawl to me a million times just so I can see her sweet little face as she does it since she'll soon be walking to me. I've been rocking her in the nursery like we used to do each night. I will miss all of those precious moments but I am so excited to experience Caroline as a toddler!! We'll make even more wonderful memories!

Last night Adam and I discovered a top tooth coming in!! She has the two on bottom and now she's finally getting top teeth. We were wondering when they were coming. Not that that has stopped her from eating...she's a great eater. She's still eating baby food but now she's also working on table food. She's had crackers, toast, cheese, beans, grits, sausage, hamburger, frozen yogurt, hummus, pitas, and a few other things. She's doing much better sleeping these days. She's been taking long afternoon naps and it allows me to get so much done (like this blog post) which I love. She is still a daddy's girl. When Adam is around she won't even let me hold her. The only exception is at night when she's tired - then she only wants mama :) She loves playing outside and looking out the windows. She's such a happy child. She is usually always smiling and/or laughing. It's such a joy being around her!

Happy 10 months Caroline! It's hard for me to put into words how much I love you! You truly are the best thing in the whole world. Your daddy and I are having so much fun watching you grow and learn. You are such a beautiful gift and I love you!

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

Caroline loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. That may be an understatement...she LOVES it! She especially loves the opening song and the hot dog song. It's really the only thing that she watches on TV. I've tried to get her to watch Baby Einstein, Little Einstein, Sesame Street, and the list goes on and on. I shouldn't complain that she's not a big TV watcher...but I sure would love a few minutes to get stuff done! She gets so excited when the song comes on that I usually spend the time watching her instead of being productive. Oh well... Without further ado, this is Caroline at 10:00 every day watching her beloved Mickey Mouse.

More adventures in eating

Well, this adventure was more about Daisy than Caroline. Since C is eating more table foods these days, we were working on eating crackers. She was so excited about it!! However...she wasn't as excited about eating the crackers as she was about feeding them to Daisy. At least both my girls had fun...

Babies...

A couple of weeks ago, Caroline and I went to visit a friend and her two week old baby. I should not have done that...all I can think about is having another little newborn!! She is so tiny! All newborns are tiny, but this little baby was born over a month early so she was extra little. Caroline looked like a giant compared to her. It seems like another life time ago that C was that little. Now look at my crazy almost 10 month old!!

It was so nice to sit and talk about all things baby for a while. I am so thankful to have such great "mommy" friends. They understand that when the baby wakes up from a nap 30 minutes early that it can throw the entire day off. They appreciate that we need to eat at certain restaurants that have changing tables in the bathroom. They just "get it." I am also so thankful for my sweet friends without babies that I can have a conversation with that doesn't involve diapers or bottles. They remind me that I am not just "Caroline's mom" but I am still Emily and I love that. I love that they love me AND love my child. We have such great friends!!

Nine Month Checkup

On Monday I took Caroline for her nine month checkup. We had to delay the appointment since she was still on antibiotics on her actual nine month birthday. Everything looked perfect - she's hitting all her developmental milestones. She's one very healthy baby and we couldn't be happier! She weighed 17 lb. 12 oz. (25th percentile), was 28.5 inches long (90th percentile), and her head was 17 inches (25th percentile). Contrary to popular belief she did not get her head size from her dad afterall. :) She had to get two shots and have blood drawn. I was so proud of her, she didn't even flinch when they were giving her the shots!! The nurse was so impressed and didn't know where to put the bandaid since it didn't bleed because she didn't move. I was prepared for her to freak out when they pricked her finger though. Would you believe that she didn't move a muscle and even watched them squeeze blood out of her finger!!! Certainly she did not get that from me. I am still the biggest wimp when it comes to needles. We've got to work on getting rid of the bottle and onto solid food completely in the next few months. I've got my work cut out for me, that's for sure. We are so happy to have such a healthy little girl!

She wasn't too sure about the doctor, but she was quite impressed with the crinkley paper and car keys.

Baby Sunday

Last Sunday was Baby Recognition Sunday at Trinity. It's a day where they celebrate all of the new life from the previous year. We were the first family to process in and Caroline did great! She smilied the whole time and even waved to some people. She's such a little ham. I was a bad mommy and forgot to charge my camera battery, but luckily we have friends who come more prepared! :)

Caroline has been a "daddy's girl" since she was born, but lately she's been all about me (which I love). On Sunday, however, she didn't want me to hold her at all. Her mad face and her arm reaching for Adam crack me up.
