Five Months Old!!

Five Months Old - January 26, 2015

My precious little baby boy is now 5 months old...almost half a year has gone by.  I love all stages of newborn and infant and if I could, I would have three more babies because I think they are that amazing.  Five months is especially magical with this little guy.  His sweet personality is coming out more and more and he has us all wrapped around his little finger.  He is smiles big and often, he gives the cutest little belly laughs when we tickle him or do something he thinks is funny, and he talks ALL THE TIME.  Big sister Caroline was the same way as a baby and she hasn't stopped talking since so I wonder if he will be a big talker too :)

He hasn't started eating solid foods yet, but we will start that soon.  He is happy and growing well just on milk right now.  He has been practicing sitting up in his high chair and he looks like such a big boy!!  He takes two naps in the day - morning around 10 and afternoon around 3 - with a few little cat naps here and there.  He is down for the count around 9 and sometimes gets up around 1 or 2, but he has started sleeping through that some nights so we are keeping our fingers crossed that that is a good sign.  He is wearing 6 month clothes (mostly) and still in size 1 diaper but this is the last pack before he switches to size 2!

His favorite things are pulling hair, holding his toes, taking a bath, watching his sisters, and "standing" up.  He loves when we hold him up so he can put weight on his legs.  He is a strong little thing and I think he will probably walk early since he is already trying to take steps when we hold him up.  He has been working on sitting up unassisted and he is getting there.  I imagine that by this time next month he will be a pro.

He hates his car seat most of the time which makes car rides miserable.  He also has started to figure out that we put him in swings. bouncers, play mats, etc. when we need to be doing something and he hates that.  He would much rather be the center of our attention.  He loves playing on the play mat and bouncer but he likes for us to be looking at him and talking to him.  Sounds a lot like his sisters...  He has started responding to his name.  When we say it, he will turn his head and smile.

The girls adore him and fight over who gets to hold him and sing to him.  They think Boom Clap is his favorite song and they sing it to him when he is crying.  To be fair, it actually works and most of the time he will calm down.  They call him Harrison about half the time and either Bubba or Harry the other half.  We find it so cute that even Adam and I have started saying Bubba or Bubs.

When I found out Caroline was a girl, I was so excited but also sad that my girl(s) would not have a big brother.  I had a big brother so I just felt like that was what was needed.  After seeing my girls with Harrison, I think that little girls need little brothers.  The sweet relationship between these two big girls and this little man is precious.

Happy 5 months Harrison!!  I love you so much!  I am so thankful to be your mommy and have you in our little family.
